Watercolor by Bob McAnespie
Our shop is located in the
heart of old South Tampa. It was founded in 1992 by Dr.
Frank and Paulette Vasey to provide a creative and artistic
learning opportunity for our daughter, Rebecca, who has cerebral
palsy. From a more practical perspective, we had no more
room for antiques in our 7000 square foot, 1920’s home in New
Suburb Beautiful, just blocks away from the antique shop! We
also have a son, Matthew. He is quite fortunate as he is
able to do occasional “walk through visits” of the main
house and antique shop to select prize antique possessions to
decorate his various abodes as he travels the country to
complete his medical school rotations. We moved to South
Tampa in 1977, from Montreal, San Francisco, Philadelphia and
other places north. We had great foresight in selecting
South Tampa as our permanent home.
The
Palma
Ceia Porcelain and Art Pottery
antique and book shop is a family passion. It is one of
the prettiest and most elegant shops you will see, and we have
traveled nationwide visiting shops and malls to bring treasures
back to Tampa. All are hand selected…no “containers from
Europe”… and no “consignments”.
Palma
Ceia Porcelain and Art Pottery
has an eclectic grouping of Arts and Crafts Art Pottery
(Rookwood, Roseville, Weller and others) American and European
porcelain (Transferware, Flow Blue, Staffordshire, Limoges,
Paris Porcelain and others) and old and used books. More
recently, we have added to our old book inventory, now over 3000
volumes. For example, “Beast” Butler’s Civil War
autobiography is available. He threatened to treat the
women of New Orleans as prostitutes if they insulted his troops!
Rebecca and Dawn do a fabulous
job managing and operating our “Mom & Pop” shop on Mac Dill.
But this “Mom & Pop” is “high tech” as we are computerized, and
most recently, we even have a website.
We are located in the heart of
old South Tampa at 1802 South Mac Dill Avenue across from the
Palma Ceia Country Club and Golf Course. We have ample
parking and love to teach about our antiques and old books, as
well as learn from our most discriminating customers. |
